In the Garden

With the arrival of our baby and the commencement of a new job I have found it harder and harder to get out to shoot, other than the odd hour here and there. I knew that this would be the situation before our son arrived and bought, I should say invested in, a copy of Alan Murphy's Guide to Songbird Photography. It is an amazing guide filled with ideas that are simple to execute and provide some real rewards.

I prepped my back garden over the weekend and could not wait to see what would transpire. On Monday morning I returned home from work and decided that I would see what the potential of the new set up was. I knew that it would be tough, the sun was already high in the sky producing some harsh light and shadow, but the results were pretty favourable - even only spending 20 minutes shooting.

I am hoping to encourage more species into the garden over time. The only visitors I saw during this short time were House Sparrows and House Finches. I know that I get regular visits from Hummingbirds, Inca Doves and Mourning Doves... and the occasional Gambel's Quail - let's see what else I can shoot.
