Portal, Arizona - May 2020

Decided to get out of the house after 2 months of lockdown... I was going a little stir-crazy! Little did I know it would continue for several more months!

I headed to Portal to catch the end of the Spring migration - alas, a week too late! It was hot, quiet, and frustrating. My goal bird, the Elegant Trogon, was nowhere to be found, and my fieldcraft stealth was severely lacking - ultimately I ended up with images for ID purposes only (to add to my life-list), and a renewed energy to pick up my photography again.

Here are some shots from the weekend:

Brown Creeper

Cassin's Vireo

Dusky-capped Flycatcher

Hooded Oriole

Painted Redstart

Pygmy Nuthatch

Red-faced Warbler

Scott's Oriole

Spotted Towhee

Steller Jay

Thick-billed Kingbird

Wild Turkey

Yellow-eyed Junco
