November 22nd 2010

Another series of shots from the Riparian Preserve at Gilbert, AZ. With the arrival of the migrating waterfowl we have seen an increase in the number of pro-photographers that line the banks of the recharge ponds with their 600mm lenses, so getting a prime spot is proving difficult. However, I am getting lots of opportunity to watch and study the professionals at work, gleaning the odd tip where I can. Of course, with more people watching the birds it is easier to catch the action. If I had been on my own I would have missed the Great Blue Heron with fish in my previous post, but my neighbor photographer caught it and his shutter clicking away was the hint that I needed.

Here are today's selections:

Full Moon - This is how early I arrive to get a good shooting spot!

Greater Yellowlegs

Green-winged Teal

Mallard in Flight

Northern Mockingbird

Northern Pintail
